Prairie 360 update
#1
Havent had one of these in a while---GOOD NEWS---decided against the dyna jet kit and used some info from a KLX 300 dirt bike forum---pulled my slide outta the carb and drilled the bottom vaccum hole with a pop rivet size drill bit---mic'd the bit at .125----definite improvement----no more throttle lag from a dead stop---still not pullin wheelies though---also gained almost 2mph on my long uphill driveway--bike topped out previously at top of my hill at 32 mph, was hitting 34 mph this evening!!!
I would suggest this to all 360 owners---EZ and cheap

Hello again. Man you must like to tinker. There is certainly nothing wrong with that. Without tinkering we might not have the lightbulb. Have you ever adjusted your fuel mixture screw on the engine side of the carb? That really made an off idle change for me. It comes factory set at 1 and 3/4 out and I had mine at 2.5 out after the HMF pipe but started to get the popping when I let off of the throttle. I turned it to 3 out after talking to you (decided against the idle jet change) and with Dynojet and it solved all of the popping. Since letting off of the throttle closes everything except the idle jet and the fuel mixture screw that is why it was popping. (not enough fuel) The dynojet guys warned me about the idle jet that they can cause fuel mileage to drop and that they change some other settings that are not easy to bring back into adjustment. Anyway just passing on some info. I have to tell you though on pavement on a slight incline with a slight tug on the handlebars I have to be careful not to flip this thing over. I can do a tire smokin burnout by powerbraking the front disks too! That puts on quite a show. On another note I siped my tires the other day for better grip. I am not sure if it worked yet but we will see. It was fun doing it anyway. Take care and keep tinkering.

Finally someone took notice--I was running around last night and tried taking the air filter lid off again, and my top speed at the top of my test track hill slowed down again---CONCLUSION: Dont mess with the factory airbox!! When I first took it off the bike sounded awesome without it, and I thought for sure it was running better, but top speed proved otherwise--
As far as the tinkering goes--I think i'm done for awhile---going to a poker run this Sunday and I think I will try running AMOCO Silver---Bike runs great on regular but just looking to see if there is an edge---but i am sure top speed at the top of my hill will tell!!
Kartman--check your private message-- isent you one and would love to walk you through it---

Hey Guys,
Just thought I would drop an update. I have the Dynojet kit sitting on my workbench, but haven't had the time to do preinstall test run. And I don't want to install it until I have some hard numbers before hand. I've been working on a new home, which seems to be consuming every minute of my free time lately.
But, the last time I went riding I noted the speedo reads. Uphill 38mph and downhill 41mph. I have a feeling these are inaccurate due to oversized tires.
No time trials for specified distance yet. Next time I go to the farm, I will be sure to GPS speed. Then I will install DJ kit and retest.
Interesting note on the mixture screw set at 3, I have a feeling with factory pipes, I will be set around 2.5(but I will definately try it).
BTW, I am planning on testing the DJ main jet compared to the factory jet using the DJ needle set.
Man, these carbs(jets) are a bear to get to.
Anyway, I haven't forgotten, just haven't had the time.

ClayDigger,
I like your style. You have to have hard fast numbers before you make changes. The only thing that I believe you cannot do is compare the jets. If they are as much different as Dynojet says they are a simple test with the needle would not be accurate. It is all about flow baby. You will see that the Dynojet jet is substantially longer than the factory jet. Also the Dynojet needle is totally different, it is about 80 thousandths shorter at the recommended setting and the ramp on it is a lot faster. I am not sure if you have seen some of my earlier stuff but the one thing we found out was to put 3 washers on top instead of the supplied two. I called dynojet and they sent me 3 or 4 extras in case I lost one too. Without the 3rd there is a little more slop up and down than I would like to see a needle have. I will give the Keihin guys props there needle is a nice piece, just no adjustability except shimming. Also they do not offer other needles for the 360 application. Oh and as far as your speeds there is definately something wrong there. Mine will do 38 in low gear. And on a GPS 52 down a small hill with no wind. But I have the factory tires too. Good luck.
