Default Dyna with key cutting out

I guess I should consider myself lucky then. My P650 runs perfect, may not be fast but still runs without any problems or flaws. I can get a top speed of 68 mph and I know this cdi will put me at 69 and maybe 70 with my new jetting and other airbox mods. BUT, I want to be able to hit 50-51 in 350'.

Im taking my primary clutch to the machine shop today around 10am. I will have the digital camera with me to take several pictures of the place and the actual machining of the clutch. I never did get the pulleys apart so I have decided to just take .060" off the movable sheave and take .060" off the cover plate.

I will take new pictures then install it and run it some. Then remove the cover to see if the belt is riding higher and how much higher. I wont be able to test for top speed here at home but pullouts and engine braking should get covered to some extent. I will make another post when I get it all fixed up on the site.

I dont know guys. .060" was a lot to take off one side. Dont know how it will effect the belt at slow speeds. Also. even taking .060" off the cover plate didnt let the pulley fully close. I had to use some washers as spacers for this. If you can picture what Im talking about I will have pictures later on tonight.

I have tried it out and it seems to be working fine. I cant tell anything about top end speed. I know its louder now than it used to be. Its probably out of balance somewhere now. When I rev it up the noise goes away. Its about as loud as some other I have heard so thinking of it that way it doesnt bother me as bad but before it was very quiet. Pictures and a separate post will follow later.

KOD,

Not to bad on your clutch modd you did however have the wrong part of the face plate machined. Never have the sheaves machined on the lathe like you had him do it. The clutch can come loose and both halves will turn at different speeds the end result would be bad for the lathe operator. I am surprised the operator worked on the clutch with both halves attached. It would be advisable to get the clutch apart so you can even out the step between the cut edge and the sheave. On the 03 clutch you will notice a 2 step angle to one of the sheaves you could have had that done by the lathe operator. It wouldn't hurt to get your clutch balanced if not it may take out the bearings on the inside of your crank shaft housing! Good attempt though a little more information before you have it tackled wouldn't hurt.
