I have my carb pulled out. now can anyone help with the way to shim?
Im new to this and not really sure where the shims go. I have removed the needle. Do they go at the top or bottom or where?

If you raise the needle you will get more gas and will run richer. So if you want to run richer which is usually the case with talk of shims then add shims under the needle retainer clip. To make run leaner then remove shims.

Default Help Shimming Needles

Ok did 2 small brass washers I had lying around. Seems to help but I have a flooding issue at about 1/4 throttle. I have yet to do the muffler mod. I have tryed to adjust the carb but cant get the hesitation out.

I have factory jets in it now. Should I go ahead and take the shims out? or do the muffler and intake mod?

then rejett?

Im at about 800 feet

Any suggestions on the jets?

Steve

If you want more power go ahead and do the intake filter and snorkle and exhaust mod then jet from there.you''ll

probably be ok on needle shims but may need bigger main jets. Check you plugs. Go to nyrocs site for all the info

I got my washers at a hobby shop . Home depot and Lowes didn't have small enough

Thanks for the info. I am getting a v-force next week and already have a Muzzy exhaust ordered. I haven't seen the airbox yet and was wondering if just drill 6 one inch hole in the lid will make the difference. Does the snorkel make that big a difference. The quad I am getting has a clutch kit and K&N already in it.

Because of the elevation I ride, I had to take my main jet from a 155 (stock) to a 148.. Seen allot of people shim the needle, is this a good idea for higher elevations?? I'm concerned I might actually loose power??
