Big Night For the Prairies at the Pull
Our club put on a pull at a local country fair last night; a great turn-out with 50 machines registered.
My class (601cc's and up) was made up of 11 machines; 8 Prairie 650/700's, a Rincon and two 660 Grizzlies. No Polaris's were represented (but I wish they would have been). All machines/operators were weighed and sandbags added to make everyone the same weight. Good hardpacked conditions, they have the pull inside a large covered arena.
You can guess what came in 9th, 10th, and 11th. (Hint: the fluid drive came in last, and the single cylinders came in 9th and 10th).
So that left the Kawi's in 1st through 8th, and your's truly ended up in first, out-pulling the next nearest machine by 5 feet. I was followed by a 700, a 650, a 700, a 700, a 650, a 650, and 8th went to another 700.
I was organizing and judging the event, so I had a friend from work drive the 650 for me. This may have had a lot to do with my machine winning. There were machines running cut Duro's and all different types of tires and mods. I currently have 25/8-12 and 25/12.5-12 Bearclaws. My driver was new to the machine and pulls, so he approached it very conservatively. All the other drivers were WOT right from the line, as I would have been if I had been driving. The track was a 100 foot full pull, and my driver didn't reach WOT until the 40 foot mark. He pulled the winning distance of 98.6 feet on his first pass. On his second pass he was more aggressive and only pulled 92 feet. The second place machine managed 93 feet.
All in all, a great night!

Congrads, good job
Sounds like those bearclaws really work well. I've seen a lot of guy not go to WOT right out of the hole, but I can't remember anyone winning by doing it.
we've haveing a pull on oct 10 here in Maine, get a group together and come over...it'll be fun to have some cross border comp for bragging rights....lol
Also same day and time there be a grass drags for snow sleds with a $5,000.00 purse.

He didn't really ease it off the line; it was very positive pulling away and revving fairly hard...... he just steadily pushed the throttle in until it was wide open at about 40ft. Bearclaws have always worked well in this ring.
If that was my weekend off I would be there; I've got to give up this factory job and find something that lets me have the weekend off.

Good job on the win NovaKaw, even if you were not the pilot. I myself have used that technique on occasion with good results, it really depends on the soil composition and texture. I am constantly watching the track and reading it as the event progresses, because the track does change. Just out of curiosity do you have any pics. of the sled or have any idea how much it weighed ? Also what was the "BIG DOG" at for the benchmark for weight ?

I'll try to find a pic posted somewhere. The guys that brought the sled are from another club and didn't know the weight for sure; it has 4500lbs etched into the weight box cover, but I don't know if that's the whole sled or just the weight box.
The big bubba in the class was a guy on a P700 - 1150lbs (he ended up coming in second). In comparison, my driver (150lbs) and P650 came in at 880lbs. A difference of 270lbs!! The big guy said he weighed 375lbs plus had a seat, storage boxes and other assorted stuff bolted on his machine. This allowed my machine to have five- 50lbs. sandbags added for weight.
