Stop to put in 4wd or not?
#11
Moving under 15 MPH with all 4 wheels spinning the same speed is the ideal way. However, I have been stuck before I switched to 4WD so I just put in 4WD(not moving because I'm stuck!), then I put it in low gear and try to spin the real wheels very slowly with the throttle, forward and reverse. You are trying to get the gear dogs to line up, so they will mesh. If you get the rear wheels spinning too fast you are likely to hear that aweful gear clashing noise. I have had good success with this method, however, as already stated, the best way is doing it before you get stuck!

I believe kawasaki, and i thought nyroc and many other knowledgeable members of this site recommended that 4wd/2wd shifting Never be done at a complete stop, but rather, while at speeds under 5mph.
