Is the new Brute Force 650 identical to the old Prarie 650 except for plastics?

Nope. It does have a larger displacement version of the same V-twin engine as well as a similar tranny and rear wet brake system. BUT, it's a new frame, A-arms up front instead of struts, IRS on the rear and many other changes over the Prairies.

You must be confusing the 750 with the NEW 650 coming out. The BF650 is identical, under the plastic, to the P650 that was replaced by the P700 last year. Heck, even the headlights are borrowed from the Prairie. Wish they would have given them the 750 headlights.

The bf 650 is a 700 prairie with the 633cc v twin from the original prairie 650. It has the bigger carbs and other updates associated with the p700.

What "new" 650?

I wonder if we will see the new BF plastic on the P700 next year?

I don't really know why everyone favors the new look of the Brute Force over the Prairie. While the Prairie isn't the most visually appealing 4x4 out there (although the performance more than justifies it), I believe that it looks a lot better than the Brute Force, especially the front end. Just another guy's opinion though.

not to be a dick...but you are totally wrong here boy-o.....if you really think you know what you are talking about..or at least going to tell someone something that makes it look as if you are knowledgeable...at least go read the manufacturers web page....same ol' 650 engine, same carbs, macpherson STRUT front end, no new frame, all it is, is a prarie 650 in some new clothes...brought back to steal business from the competion because of its barely higher price...they (kawi) feel that why wont someone buy one of their vtwins with a proven design if its only a few hundred more than a competitors smaller engined, single....they already had the toolong and jigs for the "prarie" style frame and are still making the 650 motor and parts for another company (that shall remain unamed)..so it is just a very cost effective way for them to do nothing but essentially re-release and older quad(with new plastics) and attract yet another segment of the market...great possible money maker in my book.

Yup, I was wrong and admit it. Hadn't heard about the BF650 and was thinking the OP meant BF750.
