bad bad bad, when i first purchased the bike i thought it was so cool. but little did i know when any hit to the plastic happens the plastic breaks like peanut brittle. it really sucks. i bought this bike to mash it up in glamis. this bike really does kick butt. but dont go to fast because if your plastics are broken now its a death trap, it will cut you. but kawi doesnt care. i bought the bike in nov 03 and ive changed the plastics three times $2000 in extra cost i could have bought the honda 450 and saved a bundle. when i spoke to kawi they said that the bike was not meant for riding the way i was. thats not what kawis website says and shows. they show the same bike mahing through the dunes like i was. once kawi gets your $7000 out of you they just dont care. i am going to sell this death trap with sharp edges and buy me a bike that is safe.

 

This guy is crazy. Riding fast is okay but riding past the limits of the machine is dangerous no matter what you buy. A stock 450R or YFZ axle will break if you land it wrong coming off a 20ft double does that mean that the quad sucks. NO, it just means that you pushed the limit a little to far. The KFX is a great quad and really reliable. I ride it in the woods and have hit the plastic on limbs trees and rocks and have yet to break the plastic. Ride with common sense and take care of your quad and be amazed at how long the thing lasts. if you have anymore questions check out the kawie riders website

 

400 and 700??????

 

The Limited Edition plastic should be avoided. It is brittle and will snap with the slightest impact. The Kawie Green and Orange plastic is more than durable. I have rolled mine over, and taken it through tight woods sections hitting more than my fair share of trees and tree branches, with no unexpected damage.

 

The limited addition plastic is just that...limited! It is limited to non-impact! The green and orange are just as durable as any other plastics out there. Yes it will crack and break but it will take just as much abuse as a Honda or Yamaha...go with green or orange, change the tie-rods and you are good to go. Want to squeeze more performance...Dalton clutch kit, Diamond G Snorkel and a high flow air filter...(K&N or Twin Air) then open up the exhaust...

 

dont get me wrong the 700 is a great bike other than the plastic. i have been through this with the dealer. i started with the red lava and then went to the carbon fiber look. i talked to my dealer and ask which plastic is more durable and also asked kawi and they both said its the same. im just pisted cause i spent more than i bargain for with the plastic. i ride this bike every weekend and i love it. but they need to do something about this plastic. when i purchased the bike i look at many different bikes and i went with kawi because my son has a kawi kf80 and my wife kfx400. im a hard rider. ive never crashed my bike i rolled it twice going about 10 mph turning sharply so i dont ride out of my limit. my friends and fellow riders cant believe the plastics break that easy. but on a lighter note: the bike climbs any hill any dune and jumps like a dream. very easy to ride and rider friendly. its a great bike. if the green or orange plastic is better then i will try that. i just want to be able to ride and not worry about the plastic cutting me if i fall.

Both the Lava Red and Carbon Fiber are NO Good, and neither is the Silver Lava. Kawie's failure to admit to you that there is a difference in durability, shows me that they have their head in the sand. You will be more than happy with the standard (Green/Orange, the green will make your V Faster[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]) plastic, and you should definately go in that direction.

sorry if came across a little harsh too. I get tired of people downing the 700 because it is auto. It is a great quad and a lot of fun to ride. each person has their opinions and that is great. that is why we have these forums. I was venting my anger and I downed someone elses opinion. with that being said. I apologize.

The LE plastic should be avoided if you are not experienced or may tip the bike over. You do have to be carefull, though.

 

Very reliable bike. Incredibly fast. Good base for a GNCC ute. unlimited racer. Kick-a$$ trail machine!
