Bob,

1.Spacers are kind of rider specific, I found that my lakota wanted to lean onto 2 wheels in the turns because it was just not wide enough. So I felt the spacers allowed me to handle turns better. The one problem I did run into though, when riding track and having the bike spaced out I actually needed more power than I had with just the K&N/Jet/Pipe.
2.As for tires it looks like you dont plan on listening to me but, What do the pro's run... Thats My Point!!!
3.Make sure when you measure your chain slack you measure it from all the way up to all the way down, Not 1.75" just up. It ends up being .80 up and .80 down or close to it. I have not run into any problems with my chain although I did change it to an RK Chain.
4.You seem to be riding with the BIG BOYS and you need to step to the plate with $2000 or watch them ride alittle more.
5.I have not heard about the Carb Idea, But lets work with the facts... The 300ex has a 32mm carb, so does the Lakota. Well I seriously doubt there would be that big of a differnce.
5.I would seriously think about putting uni vents in your airbox cover, so that you can run that 138 main jet.
6. Popping wheelies on the Lakota is simple.. I run more wheelies than all of my friends. The Lakota does have a clutch..USE IT Put your bike in second gear while going about 5mph, lift your shifter level up but dont change gears, it will work as a 100% Clutch, Rev the bike up and let down your foot while staying in 2nd gear(Basically popping the clutch) Do NOT Try this by reving the bike and slamming it into 1st.. Very bad for the bike.. Fat Wheelies if you follow my steps..

Ride,

Please don't misconstrue my tire selection as not listening to you. I hear you loud and clear, but you yourself said they are NOT the best mud/snow tire, along with others that have included passages. I really do need mud/snow traction. Have you ever run in the snow? IT'S AWESOME! Anyway, I feel that the tires you recommend are great but I also need good traction in other areas. What do you think about the Sur-Tracks for mud/snow or are there others you recommend? Bandits look good to me too.

MY PARTS CAME IN TODAY!!! (still awaiting gasket from local dealer though)

As far as the Uni vents you are talking about, what are you talking about? Do you mean the cover on the side where the air filter goes? Are you saying not to run my K&N but a Uni instead? If I vent it out there do I need to be concerned about water getting in? Sorry for my ingnorance but I'm tring to learn. The instructions that came with the jet kit says that if I am below 3000' to use the 138 and no air box mods. are needed since it is a stage one. You appearently don't agree. Do you think air box mod. is a must?
BTW: Is there a simple way to get the seat off? I have never removed it but it is not like my old Suzuki that had a little lever you pulled and here comes the seat (that I see readily anyway, admittingly I have not tried real hard to get the seat off but was just wondering)

As far as watching the "big boys" run, trust me, they are not that great of riders, only have faster machines. They usually have me lead anyhow. We just have a great time, no competion, just alot of fun. I'm just looking for more power and possibly better handling.

Yes, I did check my chain slack top to bottom not just top. Do you think I can get away with having only 1.5/1.6" of slack and not break the chain? I feel if it were tighter I may not have the slapping sound. I don't want to break it either though.

As always I look forward to your comments/answers not to mention really apprecating the time to go over it with me.

Steve (stebob comes from my 3 1st initials and my wifes 3 1st, her name is Bobbie. In case you were wondering)

BOB,

1.You should use the Uni filter in conjunction with your K&N Filter. This Modification is not a must, but it is simple, and you can feel the difference..You would have to worry about water getting in so BE CAREFULL. All I know is with the Air intake stock and the spark Arrestor on, the bike will run a bit rich.
2.I have personally found no easy way to do anything with the Lakota plastics or seat, they are a pain in the butt.
3.WEll Bob i have no idea what you weigh, but take a look at the chain while sitting on it, or push the back down a bit then feel it..I never had that prob. so I dont really know.. Just make sure you dont make that chain TOO TIGHT !
4.THE "BIG BOYS" comment, I just figured they ran the show..I ride with the "Big BOYS" and there bikes are FAST.....

Hey when your riding with your friends, and there acting like girls... Tell them to "SAC-UP"

Okay, for this air box thing, would I put the K&N on then the Uni then put the cover on? How many vents do you think and what size holes? I'm concerned here though, we get into some fairly deep water sometimes. But there is really no way around it huh? Do you feel that I will have a nice performace gain from the 134 to the 138 jet?

Back to the spacers. Did you notice that after putting the spacers on it actually took power away? It did not run as good after the spacers were installed? Have you ever had the front tires rub on the plastics since you went a inch larger than stock?

Ride or die I have some more question you since you sound like team green rider. My buddy just sent his lakota to four stroke tech and is getting a 390 stroker built, what is the duration on your cam and your lift? Can you give me pointers on on how to jet your carb and advance your timing. His bike is going to be quick and you should race him when you go to pismo. Of course my 87 250x with my 310 stroker will suck you both up. I am pushing 41hp. I would also like to race your friends 400exs and 250rs I think I could put up a good race. I am very interested in joining sac up racing. I hope my quad is good enough to be in the club. You all sound so experienced and knowledgeable. I have about 7 friends in pismo who would also be interested in joining but also like me I dont know If are quads were modified enough to join. I would like to have some info on sac up racing and appearal. Are you affiliated with them? are you the president? Please email me and let me know when you are goin to pismo so we can hook up. I hope my friends can keep up with you. the only one that might have trouble is my friend john who has a honda rancher. He just got it back from curtis sparks and had it ported and carbed with paddles on all corners. It looks kind of funny because it has four flags on it. He also put a custom carbon fiber intake on it witch I made. It is dynoed at 35hp
