What's the reason for this.........
As many of you know- I have fairly recently acquired a Lakota. The thing is, I'm seeing information that the 300 Prairie- which I understand used the same engine, had 10.2:1 compression while the Lakota, while billed as 'sporty' ran a paltry 8.6:1. And can I get away with pirating a piston from Prairie, or even an 11:1 Wiseco?

Hey kwackermann, i now they make a praire 360 and 650 but not sure a 300. I know for a fact that the lakota motor is from the bayou 300 and it is tuned for more of sport riding but they are the same thing, that's why the lakota does not have to much sport performance like newer racing quads, it's more in the sport/utility. But with a nice pipe and jets and stuff it sure wake her up a lot.

Wow, a half a point in compression- didn't think it would be really noticeable. The stock 'jave compression is 11:1 outta the box, which I thought was fantastic. Certianly a higher compression piston is in order for the Mojave- probably when I do the cam work and everything else is apart. I'd like to go about 10.5:1 on the Lakota, so the next time I see a piston on ebay- it's in order...........
