Default Floor Board Preference?

There seems to be a good deal of variation among floor boards in the ATV industry. On some boards the foot pegs are really raised (KQ). Other boards seem to be almost flat (Prairie). What are the advantages/disadvantages, and what do you prefer?

Default Floor Board Preference?

I drove with all types of floorboard and the only real diference is in the wintertime my personal preference is that Honda's floorboards don't seam to get filled with ice as much, this could be a power/tire issue thou. Once in a while I would clean off my floorboard on a run but I feel even if I had raised foot pegs there still would have been to much mud/snow on the boards. I would take floorboards over foot pegs any day. the plus I find with flat boards is you can move your feet around easier to prevent cramping and get your weight right where you want it.

Kawi650, I hope you meant "...to prevent CRAMPING." LOL Yeah, that is one of the things that is making me lean more toward the Kawi vs the KQ. I like the flexibility to put my feet where ever it is most comfortable. Otherwise, I'd think it would begin to feel like I was standing on a ladder all day.

Are the Kawi floorboards pretty durable? They appear to be made of metal which is different than most. Any problems with them getting beat up by rocks or rusting, etc.?

LOL, fixed The Kawi floorboards are quite durable, however they do bend up a little when they are hit, when I first got my 650 infact almost every second week I would straighten them back down. Now I prefer them bent up and they don't even appear to move now. I also thought I would need to reinforce the floorboards but never went there yet. they rust very little in the corner and my POV on the metal is that they are fixable rather than replaceable in a miss hap. I hit mine extreamly hard before and no cracking infact when I collided with an other P650 on a very slippery lake before his wench bracket an my right floorboard was the point of contact and we hit hard. All I got was a very small dent.

never been on the new KQ yet, but after a long time on my old LT300 I find my legs got kinks in them.

ive found the floor boards on my rubicon to be really good, raised pegs, good size holes for drainage. the floor boards on my brute force are comfortable, pegs are raised just not as much as the rubi. the holes for drainage arnt good though, muddy ride fill them up, holes clog then fill with water. one other thing the brake pedal sometimes hits the floor board when you go to step on it because the pedal has a lower lip thing on it which in turn hits the floor board. as soon as it snows we'll find out how good they are.
