I have two Bayou 220's. A '92 and a '94. I have had problems with the brakes on both of them. Either the pads wear out very fast or else the cables stretch. This is starting to get very frustrating!! Is anyone else having this problem or am I just unlucky? Does anyone have any ideas on how i could prevent this from happening so often?

i have a 2000 bayou 220 and i am so mad about the brakes on this thing, i have almost learned to ride without using the brakes, the front brakes havent worked for probably 6 out of the 8 months i've had it and the dealer supposedly cant find the problem, but i think i kno what the problem is, and its the fact that kawasaki engineers just didnt spend enough time on these braking systems.......

This is a very old thread, ...but I believe you are correct, this is a engineering problem. I don't know where they find the engineers for anything from cars, ATVs, to tools to work on them. It seems they allow the novice to complete the final products. I don't understand how anything can be designed without overseeing the project, to make sure the final test is not done by ...just the consumer. It's amazing how many products with defective ideas or features hit the market from poor decisions in design. As long as we pay them to do it, they won't stop. So, I suppose we will deal with it forever.
