TPalm, Don't know if you live by Mount Hope. But it struck a nerve when you mentioned 2 sportsman 500'S.Them Bastards got me.I was a sitting duck when they came around a turn on a railroad bed at 6:00pm on a sunday.Riding for 20 years and only busted once.I can live with that.

birdbath, the quads i'm talking about are in the washingtonville police department. sorry to hear you were nabbed. How bad was the penalty? Its annoying always having the thought in the back of your mind they could be around the next curve!

Tpalm,The fine wasn't bad.Believe it or not it was only $15.I had to go to court in the town of mount hope.It Just stinks to have to look over your shoulder. Now when we ride we always pull off in the woods and not on a main trail. The fine was cheap because i had it registered. If it wasn't registered the cop said he would have automatically impounded my bike.I had my little guy with me on his 80 and his wasn't insured but he let him go and told us to go home. Also watch out for the DEC,Those characters are all over the place too, especially the powerline trails.

this is how i see it if a 2 wheeled bike and a trike are allowed to be licenced for the street then quads 3or 4 wheelers should be allowed to the only diffrence is more wheels and in all aspectes 4 wheels are safer then 2 so i guess you could say that the government is very hiprocratic and always will be and the us is falling apart because of the hiprocrocy in our government

BB...It's definitely worth it to have it registered and insured. You can't risk it with the volume of cops around anymore. Glad to hear you got off easy

the police aren't above the law..........they do have exempt tags. these tags are probably available to the public if they have good reason.......... get over it. obey the laws and you won't have to worry about them.............

There is nothing to get over....The fact is we live in a free country and EVERYONE must obey the laws. The police are exempt to speed when going to a problem or chasing someone, BUT, THEY DON'T HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SPEED WHEN THEY WANT TO.....THAT IS MISUSE OF POWER. The same is with the quads......if they do not have a special permit, then they are breaking the law. Maybe you don't care if authorities misuse their power, but I and many others do.
