I was pulling some big logs out of the woods where I live tonight, it was a heavy load (about 400-600 lbs.) so I was using the low gear on my 2000 Prairie 400 4x4. When I got to the wood pile I could not get the machine to shift from high to neutral, it goes back and forth from low to high with no problem. I've never had any problems with it before, so this is new to me.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it back to neutral? It won't start otherwise, and I'd hate to have to stack my wood around it all winter.

Did you try moving the maching slightly? Sometimes a slight rotation in the drivetrain will help. Also, your pullstarter will bring her to life whether in gear or not.

I did try moving it last night, but it didn't work, so I wasn't sure. After reading your post, I decided to give it another go. This time it worked, and I moved it a little further. Thanks that worked.

As for pull starting it, if I were an 800lb gorrila I think I could pull start it. That was the only thing about the quad that I didn't like when I bought it.

I still stand by the fact that I think this is a great machine, I've really put it through the wringer. And it still does great.

Thanks once again. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you that you are doing the right thing.
