cc, Thanks. Nope I just stripped the factory green paint and polished them with Mothers Aluminum polish and a rag. The only down part is you'll see the weld seam, but its not very noticable. I see the 05' Prairie comes with the polished alum, they copied me!

You mean all these years those were alluminum wheels under that paint. I thought they were steel. I guess that goes show you learn somthing new everyday.
So did you just bead blast them or did you use some kind of paint remover. I was wanting to take at least a set OEM fronts and polish them out like that, I think that will look pretty good matched up to my rear paddle tires, plus they are very light. plus did you have to dismount the tires to do that?

I know, I thought they were steel until someone told me, then I decided to remove the paint. Too much green! I just used paint remover and brushed it off, took about 2-3 coatings. There is a steel support ring around the lugs on the rear wheel. But I just removed the paint and used Mothers alum polish, you can buy it at any auto store. Took about 3-4 coatings with that stuff, I'd say I spent about 1 1/2 on each wheel removing paint and polishing. Not bad really. I like them, and I've gotten quite a few compliments on them. I didn't remove the tires, the paint was pretty much rubbed off my beads already. Plus I didn't do the inside, whats the point, don't see it anyway much.

I have had mine for 15 months and the only problem I had was due to my stupidity when I burned up the belt pulling a big polaris 700 out of the mud. After than I pull only in low range and have had no other problems. I have had to adjust the front diff locker once, but that is all. I now have a little over 900miles.

i absolutely love mine here are the problems i have had with it:
belt was loose when i got it, so i tightened it, at around 1300 miles i had to tighten it again still going strong
around 500 miles my kebc actuator went, had to get a new one (lots of $$$) its not worth the money if it goes again im getting a dg module to fix it (i wish it was out when it went)
at about 1500 miles the seal where the front drive shaft goes into the diff. started to leak, no big deal to replace (took me awhile to figure out how to get the seal out though)
it had a pop at just above idle so i shimmed the needles and it was fixed
thats it, nothing drastic

4000+ miles on a 02 650 = 2 belts, 2 sets of tires, 1 front wheel brg, 1 front bumper,1 cvboot, 1front output shaft oil seal, 1 set of swing arm bushings, and normal maintenence, These are super good bikes and most of these problems above were self inflicted the swing arm deal is water and grit when there replaced you can make um greaseable and should last a long time....jh
