Default 1988 tecate 4

i found a 1988 tecate 4 in the paper for 1500$ and needs tlc. i was just wondering are these things reliable when fixed up? are parts hard to find? also anyone know what the top speed? how are they in snow? is it possible to clean it up and sell it for more? thanks guys

THat's quite a price, sounds like it probably needs aloth of help.reliability is just about equal to any comparable 2- stroke. Parts are about as hard to find as hens' teeth, they are very very scarce. It's probably not the greatest in snow as it's a 2wd and high strung at that. Fact is- the engine was actually hotter than the 250R but the chassis wasn't quite as world class.

i might go take a look at it and try to get the price down alittle more. cant hurt to try. you know of any problems i should look for? thanks

the parts arnt that hard to find but if the moter sound good and dont smoke the rest you can fix but if its like you said ylc then get the price down and get it i know of places to get parts

smoke wouldnt be a bad thing......its 2-stroke

LUCKY!! Usually you cant touch one for 2 or 3 grand.

Mid 70's for a stock good running one. I don't know of any problems specific to the T4, but as with any used quad, check the frame/bearings and seals/suspension for cracks, wear, abuse. I always check the radiator for oil, try to pull the plug and stick your finger over the spark plug hole and see if it has good compression. Look at the plastics, tires, chassis components for wear. Basically, just go over the whole quad and make an offer accordingly. Good luck.
