Brute 650 -vs- Prairie
I own an 02 650 Prairie and since 02-05 they have changed/refined the airbox, CDI, Body plastic, Clutch/CVT setup, and named it the Brute Force.
Overall the new BF650 has just been refined.
Love my 02. Wish Kawasaki would have put more grease fittings ease/ prolong bearing/bushing life.
Add a new Dyna CDI, new Exhaust, higher engagement primary spring, Higher flow Airfilter & jet it correctly (approximately $700 in parts), you can hang with or humble most of the bigboys.

WORKIN... the 750 has been out longer than the 650. Brute... it's just that the 650 Brute is an SRA quad, like the Prairie, rather than an IRS quad like the 750... the 650 Brute is basically a 650 Prairie all of the 700's refinements, & a few 650 Brute only refinements, like radiator access / protection, & front strut tower supports...

with 05 being the last year for the prarie in all except the small 360 model, I would look for the brute 650 to become the brute 700, as I was told the reason to introduce it in 650 was due to a overload of 650 motors on hand, when artic cat decided to develop its own 650 rather than buy from kawi. I don't see kawi steping back from the 700 motor, when all others are moving up, although its lesser price is giving more bang for your buck than the hondas and yamahas in the 650-660 range.
