I just put a plow and winch on my 05 BF 650 and the winch had to get hooked up to the ignition switch, I taped into a red wire under the seat and now the 4 wheel drive works when it wants to and the reverse indicator light works when it wants to. Anyone have any idea what i did? It seems like a loose wire but i have no clue.

 

Sorry, I can't tell you what you did but I want to know what kind of winch you put on your Brute? If it is a Warn, where did you get the mount?

 

Is the brute 650 a similar setup to the prairie as far as the winch mounting. Might want to check. The bf 650 is probably to new to have the listing but others might work with it. Sorry cant help with the wires

 

The front end of the BF is different than that of the Prairies. My dealer was saying that a mount won't be out til spring, but I don't want to wait that long. I have also heard that Parts Unlimited will have them available as soon as FEB 4th. Now I hear that somebody already has one mounted. I don't know, maybe it's not a Warn. That's why I am asking. I do know that Ramsey has a mount for the BF650 though. I'm just confused now as far as this is concerned.

 

I just went to my local Kawasaki dealer and got the winch and mounting bracket, the winch is made by Warn. The dealer i got it from is in NY if interested i can get you their number

 

the wire that hooks to the ignition needs to be spliced into the brown wire coming off of the switch

E-WINCH.COM HAS A WINCH MOUNT THAT WILL FIT THE RAMSEY AND THE WARN FOR THE 05 BRUTE FORCE 650. YOU ALSO HAVE TO TAP INTO THE BROWN WIRE ON THE IGNITION
