Bushing on Cover Plate (drive pulley)
Oops...hit the wrong key...I am in the middle of replacing the bushings in my drive and driven pulleys.I only have 1200 miles on mine and the bushing in the drive cover plate and the inner one was way out of spec.Mine had started knocking louder and I suspected this was the issue. The shoes are fine.I know alot of people think the knocking is the shoes but in my case they are not worn at all.Just an FYI.I maintain mine and and was surprised they were so bad.I was able to grab my drive pulley assy while still bolted to the crank and litterally move it up and down,to me that sloppy enough to affect the moveable sheave to where it will be at a bad angle against the belt and affect performance and belt wear. The outer bushing is only serviced with the cover so I took it to a machine shop and they are making one out of OILLITE for alot less than the $83.00 the dealer wants.ALso,there are three diff covers so you have to figure out which one you have if you go that route.Eeverone may want to keep and eye on this while doing belt adjustments...just an FYI
