I don't see the Mojave on Kawi's website. Did they drop it? I wonder why since they don't have a replacement.

yup they took out the mojave. i didnt really see why they took it out it is a pretty good atv. i guess it was just outdated. they had better replace it with something better than other 250s. (ex z250)

It is too bad that the Mojave is no longer with us, I fear that the replacement will infact be something along the lines of the 250ex; aka- ahsft drive and auto tranny. This year is also the swan song for the Blaster. Looks like we will no longer have a manual clutch in the 'entry' level class folks..........

I don't know what the sales figures were for the Mojave but it was and is a great sport quad. I feel it was the best of the "legacy" 4 stroke sport quads. The legacy quads were the 250x, Warrior, Blaster, Quad Sport and Mojave. I recently rode an old 230 Quad Sport and could not believe how gutless it felt. I prevoiusly owned an '86 Q-sport some 15 years ago and really liked it but it didn't compare to the Mojave. I've also owned a 250X and my brother has owned everyhting at one time or another. Let's see, a Warrior, Blaster, 250X and a Mojave. I rode his quads quite a bit and they were all good in their own ways but for me the Mojave was the best.

I rode a Honda 250EX a couple years ago in the Oregon dunes and that thing was not what I considered a sport quad. It was gutless, had bad suspension, and was generally no fun to ride with the auto clutch. If Kawi replaces the Mojave with a rebadged Quad Sport 250 I'll just have to shake my head at what the ATV world is coming to. Is it really that hard to kick start your four wheeler and use a manual clutch? A Mojave will run rings around a new 250 Q-Sport. The thing shouldn't even be called a Quad Sport!

Anyway I'm done ranting. I'm glad I bought my Mojave when I did.

Granted- they 'should', but that would be too good. Something along the lines of taking away market share from the KFX400. We'll probably get a 2- valve, air cooled, auto clutched, shaft driven quad. Yeah- call me a cynic

there is absolutley no reason for kawasaki to stop producing mojaves, and it bothers me when people claim it as "obsolete". look at all of the other 4 stroke 250 atv motors out there, none compares, not even the 300's!. they are all SOHC air cooled, outdated and COMPLETELY OBSOLETE DESIGNS! look at the features of the mojave that it has had since its introdution in 1987 and you'll see it was was ahead of its time, using the same technology that we have just recently started using for serious 4 stroke racing applications. it has a high performance, 249cc dual over head cam , liquid cooled motor. not to mention it's 11:1 compression, what is a yfz 450's compression?11.5:1. same as the z400. the mojave is the true predacessor to the ltz/kfz400 we know and love today and people just don't appreciate that. it all out dominates the entry level class as the best all around quad in my opinion and i think that suzuki disgraced the z400 with the z250. not that the z250 is a nice entry level quad, it just isnt the same breed of machine as the z/kfx400. all i can say is that the mojave really was the true kfx 250 as it was badged in 2004, and kawasaki should have kept it that way to uphold the reputation of the kfx400, and maybe suzuki shouldve made one in yellow.

Hey mojavemadness- you're preaching to the choir. Sounds like you need to head over to Kawasaki of America with an aluminum bat and set'em straight. But honestly, I think that the mojave was a threat to the market share and sales numbers of the KFX400. People probably thought that instead of popping almost 6 grand for a 400, they'll just ease into the sport on the Mojave for less money. Granted it resonds great to uncorking it- which is the bit threat to their flagship 400.... JMHO

I remember when the 400EX came out and brought a whole bunch of new interest back into sport quads. At that time there were guys lightly moddeing their Mojaves to compete with 400EX's and performance wise they were very similar. The Z/KXF 400 beats the 400EX but not by a giant amount so a modded Mojave would not be that far off in performance. Egros and handling, well that is a different story.
