Default Anybody Replaced Front Shocks on Prairie 650/700?

To best of my knowledge, no one makes "shocks" for the front of a P650/P700. They are McPhearson struts...Progressive and Elka both make springs. I bought my Prog. springs for about $120 on e-bay about 1 year ago...I think they are 130 or so now on e-bay. Elkas go for about twice that price. Works makes the replacement strut and I believe they go for about $250 or so, but not 100% sure on that.

Hope this helps. Happy trails...

Tuff, how do you like those elkas? Or are you waiting for the struts to come in for the install? $264 dont sound to bad. I havent checked with presicion power sports on struts, but thats normaly where I find the best deals.

Purchased my Elka Springs and Works struts from Percision Powersports ($ouch). Still waiting for the struts to be made/shipped. Their web site does not reflect the actual prices now but was still cheaper than getting them elswhere. Onlything left now is to get me some in Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word  Shock/strut Covers.

Let me know how they turn out. Im sure you will be happy with it. Its almost time to take mine off the stands. I installed the new plastic, Line Xed the bumper, racks and floorboards, and did all kinds of tinkering (will post pics soon) . If the new ATRs dont give me the feel I want the struts will be the next project after the Dyno next week.. Did you by chance price the rear?

No, Didn't price the rear. I do plan on cranking up the rear spring tension a bit to see how she feels/behaves.

I'm not so sure the Works front struts are the way to go on a Prairie 700 (800). I have a set on mine and have not been happy with them at all. They raise the front of the ATV by at least an inch and a half, which with a strut front suspension is a BAD thing for handling. Raising the front suspension makes the tires lean out at top because it changes the camber. What you want is the tires to lean in at the top, so camber is as wrong as it can be with the taller ride height. The Works struts also top out with a loud clunk, so they are quite noisy when riding over rough choppy ground, such as untracked sagebrush. I am so underwhelmed with my Works struts that after one ride I am seriously considering going back to the stock struts with Elka springs, being as the Elka front springs lower the front of the ATV by an inch. The change back to stock struts and Elka springs would lower the front of my Prairie by almost 3 inches, which would really help with handling.
