Should I Buy a Montana Jacks ARS
#1
I need to add a winch to my brute force. I have been debating on what to do. Thinking about doing a MJ ARS http://www.montanajacks.com/index.as...OD&ProdID=1006
Here are my thoughts, pls chime in with your opinion.
MJ ARS
Pro’s:
- can move winch from front to rear.
- Winch stays up high keeping it cleaner and help from knotting the cable.
- Can put the winch on the back, better for pulling others out of holes.
- Can add other accessories to the ARS.
Con’s
- Cost

- The winch remains exposed, outside protection of the bike.
Typical Winch system
Pro’s & con’s
- Just the opposite from above.
Do yall think the MJ ARS is worth the money? We ride hard in a lot of mud and water.

You could do that or you could spend $5 and do it yourself. I am adding the reciever to mine today. Im doing it in 2" so I can use my reciever from my truck can be interchangable. My main reason for doing it was so I can put on a wheelie bar for drag racing and take it off in a matter of seconds. You can add one to the front just as easy, like this guy did in the bottom pic. hitch

I love my Mj's set up. One con you did not mention is the height of the winch can make off camber pulls a little more work keeping it stable. Over all I would do it again in a heart beat. They make a great product that is very well built and designed. It is expensive and you could build your own but it would take allot of time to do it right. I also pull my winch off and put it in my cargo box (strapped down) to keep it from being exposed.
Here is a picture of it in use: MJ system in use

I was getting ready to post the same question. Does anyone else make something similar for less $$? I like having front and rear receivers, and having the winch up higher.
but dang...$452? That's a lot of accessories.

Warn has pi$$ed me off too much already. Only reason I'm getting one of their winches is because they've got the best ones in my opinion. But their customer service and warranty suck.
Anyway, I've e-mail montana jacks to see who actually makes it and what kind of warranty the equipment had.

OBXRAM, Montana Jack's actually makes them. They are well made.I have one on mine and on my wifes. It takes about 3-4 hours to put it on. I have made my own carriers for it to haul gas and water. They are expencive, but they are nice set ups. I have known the owners for a couple of years and they really use what they sell and make.

Thanks for the info. I have no doubts that they are well made and will last the life of the bike, but the cost is more than the winch and installation. I'm still half way considering one, but I'll have to hold off on the new 27's if I do.
