Need your opinion...KFX or BF?
#1
I am not new to ATVing however my needs have changed and now I'm stuck between two really great rides. I am going to buy either a KFX400 or BF650. Now things to consider: I ride mostly in open areas and on faster trails. Yes mud will be envolved at times but nothing I feel will call for 4x4. Secondly I do hunt in the fall but there again don't think I'll need 4x4. 75% of the time I'll riding trails, jumping, etc. I have already found a rack system that would work for the KFX when I would need it. Help!!! Anyother suggestions may just add to my frustrations.

Since the majority of your riding sound more sporty in open areas I would definately get the KFX. But the hunting part is where you might wish you had the Brute with 4x4, racks and low range. It is a tough decision. As different as the two quads are it is still hard to pick! I was in the same boat as you but I ended up getting the Utility because most if not all the trails we ride on are rutted, technical and littered with huge mud pits. Plus most of my riding buddies have 4x4's. I second what enFORCER said, have you considered a KFX700?
BTW, welcome to the forums!

With sportiness in mind for a majority of the time and the ocassional hunting stint- a BF 650 with its SRA would fill the sportiness and the racks and lowrange would fill the bill at huntin time. Plus- with the 4x4 capability your frontiers will not be as limited as they might be with the KFX, as your abilities grow you will probablyt find yourself wishing you got a 4x4 of some sort. A good second hand Prairie 650, or better 700 would do ya great. Let us know what ya decide...........

I am picking up a Brute Force 650 in the next couple weeks. They are the best value and excellent mix of sport utility, which sounds what you are looking for. If your near WI, you can pick one up including everything but tax and registration for $5,800.
However, if all your riding buddies have sport machines then I would go that route. I find that you have the most fun when everyone is riging similar machines. My buddies and I first started riding 110cc to 125cc 3-wheelers with no suspension and we always had a blast. Now if you rode a ATC110 with all new quads you probably wouldn't have much fun trying to keep up. Last year I was riding a Polaris 400 2x4 Scrambler, but everyone else had 4x4s. I wanted to ride fast trails and they wanted to go exploring in mud.
Now we will all have 4x4's. I can't wait to pick up the new Brute Force 650!

Yes I have considered the 700 and haven't completly rulled it out. But if I want that much power and an AT tranny the BF should fill its shows. I do appreciate all your help please add any thoughts.

Yea, sounds like you need the brute force. It will fit you better. It is really sporty for bein a 4x4 machine. Its fast, tough as hell and will help you with your hunting. It will beat a lot of atvs out there too. Good luck on your choice.
