Hard starting Brute after sitting a few days?
#1
My Brute Force takes quite a long time to get started after it sits for 3-4 days or so without being used. I start it with the choke on full and don't give it any gas. When it does start it revs right up and idles at a high idle until you let the choke off which seems normal, but it takes in the neighborhood of five plus seconds to get started...
My concern is that there is a leak in the fuel system or maybe a bad check valve somewhere ore something.
Has anyone else ad this problem??

Do you turn your fuel off when you park it? If you don't the fuel may be seaping in the cylinders.
Also, keep the tank full all the time.
use a little fuel additive for water.
My 650P always needed a little throttle.

the Brute fuel shutoff works automatically, it is buried under the seat under the control module and you do not have to turn it off unless you need to remove the tank or something like that.
Did you get the front carb needle upgrade in your Brute? I just got it and mine starts a hellova lot easier now. Mine used to do what you're saying, had to crank it a lot and fully choke it. Now I don't have to choke very much at all and dont have to leave it on very long either.

Thanks, I read my owners manual and know about the fuel valve under the seat.
I did replace the front needle, but I may not have adjusted the idle 100% correctly. I tried to get the best idle between adjusting the two screws (front and rear) while it was running (bought the tool).
I'm planning on installing the Dynojet kit today because I'm still not happy with the way it runs. The may make the difference...

Turn up your idle **** some to see it that helps. Also, turn your key on for 5 seconds prior to hitting the start button to see if it makes a difference.

Hum, well if it does, I can't find it in the owners manual. Prime, do mean choke?

if you run out of gas, it has a "prime" setting but other than that you don't mess with it unless you need to shut it off to work on the bike.
