Do I have to winterize an ATV that has to stay outdoors?
#1
I have a 2001 Lakota Sport and i have to store it outside, we sometimes get rough winters in the northeast. Will there be a problem storing it outside or do I have to winterize? i know these vehicle are built for various weather conditions! but I want to use it next year!!!!!!!!!!

On occasion when I need to store an automotive engine over a harsh winter season, I'll fill it with oil, to ensure it won't sease.
Of course, the first thing you do prior to next year's summer season, is drain the oil and refill to the proper level.
Decrease tire pressure slightly, better yet, put the ATV on a stand or blocks of some sort. This will prevent flat spots in the tires. Armor All the sidewalls (inside and out) heavily, this will prevent dry rotting.
Fill the tank with fresh gasoline and add a fuel stabalizer (which can be purchased at any auto parts store).
Ensure the fuel switch is off. And most importantly cover it up! If you have some old blankets (perhaps try Goodwill) then cover using a tarp. Ensure to use something heavy to hold the tarp down so it won't be blown off.
If there is something I forgot, please fill us in.

Expand the rear door of the house to the basement.Than leave the quad downstairs where it can stay warm all winter.
Ask one of your brothers or sisters to stay with a relative for the winter, and stick it in their room.
Ask dad to leave the car out of the garage for the winter months, and keep the quad in there.
A quad should never be left alone by itself in the winter months. As a last resort,I recommend purchasing another quad in order to keep this one company during the winter months. [lol]
JUST KIDDIN,
