yeah..tighten that up...then on the other side tighten them two bolts...that's should do the trick...you can also tighten the upper clamp if it can move forward or back a little

Tightening the nut probaly wont do much for ya since the cotter pin prevents it from coming loose in the first place. My old mojave had the same problem. There is a movable bushing at the bottom of the column where those 2 bolts hold that plate to the frame. The slack comes form the bushing being wore. I measured it all up with a caliper and went over to Napa auto parts and they found me a bearing with the same size inner diameter and outer diameter and it only cost $7 and never had trouble with it again. Actually if you do a search you might find the part number for that bearing because I remeber posting it so others could do the same fix.

Click here this is the post I was talking about. Bearing was $15, not $7 It has the measurements for the bearing you'll need.

actually I think I still have that column from my mojave. I still had a few parts that I hadnt gotten ridden of yet. If I do I'd sell you mine and then you wont have to worry about cutting the old bushing out. Let me know.

ya i'd say mental mojave is right bout this one. my friends honda 300 4x4 does the same thing but he never fixed it and now it lifts up like 1.5 or 2 inches and the bars move 3 inches to each side before the wheels turn and its a saft hazord to ride, lol. but anyway, he took everything appart and the bushings were wasted
