Cracked the case on mine today to replace the belt.. belt light came on so
I fugure I'd replace it once I pulled the old belt off. Well, belt looked great.. so I
blew it out and slipped the cover back on and proceed to test ride it. Belt light
now blinks and rev limiter is constantly on. now it is spitting and popping.
It has different features inside the belt housing that is not on the 650 Praire.
Nothing I have done will reset it. Now Aggravated. Ordering the repair manual
@www.repairmanual.com.

When your revlimiter is on and the belt light is on just take it back to the dealer they will reset it and tell you how they did it

Did you just try adjusting your belt deflection & resetting the belt light? A secondary shim & reset is a lot cheaper than a new belt. A loose belt will trip your belt sensor and put it in limp mode.

Were you in low range? typically if you get a little movement you should be allright. You might find your shifter is still out of adjustment. Never seen a belt break only burn.

Appreciate the link grizzkiller. I never replaced the belt. It looked as good as the new one. Not sure on how to adjust the light sensors but shimming it up soundslike the ticket. Any good sites to order the shims from? Hope to have it going by Thursday night for the weeken ride.

Just visit your Kawi Dealer. Think I paid $5 or $7 each. Hard to beat if you got to pay shipping costs. Got 3 different sizes .6, .8, and forget the other size. Some come with a single 1.4 shim. If yours cme with 2 shims inside the secondry just take out the smallest one.
