No high or low but I have reverse
#1
Hit a mud hole wide open in low range, I was making it really good blowing past everyone. I get near the end and I hear a clunk and then clank clank clank clank........etc for about 5 seconds. When the low range popped out of gear it popped back into gear and I was in the mud whole wide open, something like 6000 rpm I'm sure. There was nothing I could do, I hit the brakes and prayed. It revved back down on its own like when you rev it up in neutral and I had no forward gears. I still have reverse, I tried to adjust the shift linkage on the trail, no go. I think my forward gears are stripped or something else let go.
I'll be taking it to the dealer and see what they say, getting tired of my Kawi, thank god it has power or else it would be gone.

The shift linkage was slighty out of adjustment and the gears became unmeshed and have broken, or the circlip holding one of the gears in place on the shaft let go causing the gears to slip out of place. Either way, it will require pulling the engine and splitting the case.

With splitting the case is there anything I should be worried about? Is it meant to be split? Will it leak after they put it back together?

The crankcase is meant to be split. It's a complete disassembly of the engine. If done right it won't leak. It would be nice if your dealer has done some before, but if they follow the service manual, they should have no trouble. But it is a BIG job.

The dealer told me to watch if I was burning any oil, I checked this morning and my oil is low!! That damn carb boot really pisses me off, I wonder how much damage it did now. I'll be talking with them about this too. They should just give me a new motor, lol.
