Default lift kit or adjusting the rear suspension

I have a 02 650 prarie and have been debating wether or not to put a lift on it. I like the stability of it right now for sidehillin it or going up the steep stuff, but the looks drive me nuts. I have 27 ITP289 mt's on it with the aluminum wheels and they just look a little stuffed. Does anyone have the lift on their bike, did it make a noticable difference in stability? Also I was just thinking of just raising the rear suspension with an adjustment to the shock/spring. Is this possible and if so, how? Thanks for any opinions or insight.

I used a highlifter lift on my '02 P650, had no problems with it at all even in the off-camber areas.
I had my rear shock set to the softest position, it comes from the factory in the middle setting. You should notice a harsher ride if you adjust it up all-of-the way.

Click on the camera to the left & the PIC that reads "It is mightly cold at 13,000ft" is my old '02 P650, this PIC has the Highlifter lift kit installed along with a set of the ITP Type 4 wheels & 27" Mudrunner Tires.
