This belongs to my buddy Ray. He got it at the same time and place I got my Scrambler. Saturday night we went for about a 3½ hour ride. It was cutting off a lot and we thought it was just the idle so we turned it up but now we've discovered that full lock to the right idles it up and full lock to the left makes it die. Anybody else have this problem?

 

Sounds like a throttle cable problem.

 

Could also be the choke cable binding.

 

Thanks for the quick responses! About 5 mins after I posted this I checked the choke cable and it didn't have really any slack. We took the plastic off the front and there's a little hoop that bolts on to the steering column that holds all the cables, wires, and hoses together. I unbolted it and took the choke cable out and that fixed things. It's rigid enough to stay in place without the hoops. Do you usually have to do all kinds of things like rerouting cables and adjusting the idle on a new Kawasaki?

The first month I bought my KFX, the neutral light went out. The dealership replaced it quickly. I've had it now for over 2 years with no additional problems. Could the dealership have messed up when assembling your friends bike?
