Bayou 220!!
Seriously, not trying to make fun.
Few years back was at the hunting camp and my bud had his sons Bayou220 with I think was Wooley Boogers on the back.
Every mud hole he hit wide @#%&* open. If it did bog, just pick it up and carry it out.
Riding around drinkin the cold wobbly pop, worked just fine also.
Just made me laugh when I saw this topic.
Seriously though 650, 700 or a 750 would all be more than enough properly equipped.

i havent bin outdone by anyone in the mud or snow with my 700prarie.
the only person who has bested me is my friend and his 700p.
and thats because hes a more experenced rider then me.
and he has no fear.
he sees somthing and gos for it.
he has mud bug and i have mud zillas.
and i have out done him in some stuff but he has also out done me in other stuff.
the brute force will probly be a better mudder because of its ground clearance
but thats the only thing the brute is better at anything else is a toss up.

I have friends with the BF750( completely stock ) and a couple of Polarais 500's and my P700 is as good, if not better, in all conditions than the others. The BF has more top speed, but I can out mud him and tight wood trails are easier for me with the swingarm. As far as clearence, with the 26" mudlites there is not a lot of difference. The mudlites, without debate, have much better traction than the crappy stock tires that most atv's are bought with and that gives me a big advantage. My P700 with the spring kit and those tires seem to hook up fantastic together and that keeps me close to the BF at the start. The BF power wins at the end. I am very happy with my P700.
I also agree with BRT that small 2x4 atv's can be a blast. With a good set of rear skins they can float over a lot of crap and they can be carried out of alot of holes. I had Suzuki 250 and I could pick up the front or back by myself. With other guys with me, we never had to use winches, just picked it up and went on our way. There was a couple of times that it was easier to roll it over on it's side a couple of times to get out of holes. That bike took a licking and keep on ticking.

Well......this is coming from someone who has both. For deep mudding and rock crawling, the BF750 is better. For faster trail riding and technicial stuff, the prairie 700 is better. But, either way, both are top dogs.

I have a 03 650 with 2" lift kit and 27" Dirt Devels, none of my friends could touch me with there Polaris 600,700's or AC 650V2 until they all upgraded there tires now all of those machines can best me with 27" mud lites. They have way more ground clearence than I do and I think the mud lites are a little better than the Dirt Devels. Although I have a full body plastic skid plate which helps me slide over high obsticles I still get high sided in mud pits when the Arctic Crap and Slowaris can continue over. Now lets talk trail performance or hill climbing they cannot come close. While their IRS quads are tipping and railing around corners I am sliding inside them like a sport quad.
