Default Where did the broken parts go?

Have a 1993 Kawasaki KLF 400 liquid cooled. It dropped a valve and half the valve is missing and a hole the size of a quarter is gone from the piston. My question is,,,,where did the broken parts go? Out the exhaust or bottom end? How do I find out if they're in the bottom.? And if they are, will it hurt anything or how do I get them out? Now that's without splittin the case. Never done it and don't care to. I've heard to take out the drian plug and blow air through the crankcase, also to run kerosene through the case.
What are your thoughts? Will it hurt laying in there? And will it stay put? I don't know, that's why I'm askin.

You need to check the bottom to see if you can find the pieces. If they are in the bottom you can bet they will make themselves found in a hurry if you fix it and try to run it without checkin for them. I lost part of a valve on a diesel motor once and thought it went out the exhaust...well 5 miles into maiden voyage on rebuilt motor it went into another piston. Its always a good idea to account for broken pieces of make sure they are gone.

if it was an exhaust valve it could have gone right out the exhaust but do as WV says and check the whole engine good.
