New P700 Bummer.......
#1
Just got home with my new 05 P700 yesterday. As soon as I unloaded it off the trailer and took off I new something didn't seem right. The belt was slipping badly. I thought maybe just needed to ride it a bit and it would get better but it didn't. I can't beleive the dealer couldn't tell it was slipping when he pulled it on the trailer. So I've got to carry it back today and he is either going to have to fix it today, give me another machine, or give me my money back, im not coming home with nothing. I still has 0 miles on it. The dealer is an hour away so it will cost me a lot of money just to drive back over there. Has anyone else had any kind of problem like this with there machine. After all I researched the P700 seemed to be the most reliable of all the big bores thats why I picked it, this is just my luck I geuss.

Got it back today and it seems fine. Dealer said some o-ring was bad and leaked oil on the belt, never heard of that problem before so maybe it won't happen again. Now if I can just make it through that 10 hours of half throttle break-in...........

Just curious how many people actually brek-in their bikes this way. Im doing it a little bit like the article said now, accelerating hard and deaccelerating hard, but still not going over half throttle.

ive always gone with my theory .........break them in like your going to ride them, none of this half throttle crap

My dealer advised me to ride mine all up and down the rpm range, to go to top end in the process for brief periods, just keep riding at different speeds, holding each speed for half mile or so. Mine runs good now, fast, and I've got about 150 hours on it. No leaks, no oil use, no problems except for occasional 2wd - 4wd indicator switching back and forth. I believe that is an actuator problem which I plan on having fixed along with the recall kit (if it ever comes in).
