Default P700 NO. 1

Just received the new ATV Action Magazine. They had a big bore shootout between the P700 , Rincon, Sportsman 700, Grizzly, Artic Cat 650, and Quest 650. Their comment, the P700 has all the P650 qualities we've raved about in the past; planted, stable handling, a comfortable ride, impressive 4wd capability and it craves being ridden like a sport quad. Also, it has significantly more power, yet it's just as friendly and controllable as the P650. Riding this machine isn't just fun; we couldn't ride it without smiling, which makes it the king of the monster 4x4's.

P700 1st
Rincon 2nd
Artic Cat 650 3rd
Polaris Sportsman 700 4th
Grizzly 5th
Quest 6th

The shootout is not on atv action web site. It's only in the January 2004 magazine. It kind of surprised me the rincon being second, but I have ridden one and really liked it for a sport utility. Hail to the king, meaning the P700-P650.

That's really good to know, because, initially, I had looked into the Rincon. That is how I found this site. Then I started reading up on the P650/700, and that is what I'm going to buy. It always sounded like the best one to me, and now the magazine confirms it!

I just bought a new P700, and about a month ago, and LOVE IT!! I researched the internet and magazines for 3 months, and this forum for a month, and then went to my dealer and test rode all of the big bore bikes..... The P700 felt the best to me for the way I wanted to ride.. sport utility! I can ride with the sport guys and keep with them, and I can ride with the trial guys and blast past any of them.... I am totally pleased with the P700!!

Side notes...
1) GET THE PROGESSIVE SPRINGS!! They make a huge difference in the handling if you ride fast, or use a plow. (60" Cycle Country w/lift)
2) It's cold blooded... trick I've found it just twist the idel screw a couple of turns on cold days, then once it's warm, turn it back 2 turns. This way the bike doesn't want to stall.
3) The dunlap tires are SOFT!! I'm going to go with either ATR's or Bighorns soon.

Basically, go get the P700, and have fun!!

I traded in my Rincon a few months ago and picked up the Prairie 700, One Word ~ WOW! The power is so much better and I would call it a 4x4 Sport Quad. Giant Coal Hills that I only climbed on My sport Quads in the past, Some Im making up on the Prairie!! Dont get me wrong The Rincon and Grizzly's are very good cruzers and because of IRS are more comfortable! I would rate both of then as very Good uitilty quads! But If your looking for Pure POWER!, SPEED!, HANDLING! And the Racers Chiose! The Prairie is a Sport Quad trapped in a uitilty Quads Body!

I gotta agree guys!. I wanted to get a ride for hunting and to plow the driveway (and then play in the snow after), so my expectations were not to high that I would have fun riding it. My previous experience has been with 250Rs, raptors and modded scramblers, you know ....that speed thing. So I went and tried all the "big" quads out. Griz, sportsman 5,6,700, prairie. I was a die hard polaris fan (I still like em) but IMHO the prairie smoked em all. Dont get me wrong ALL the new quads commin out these days ride pretty well, but if your in the market, dont miss a trial run on a p700. You too may be giving that kawi dealer a check like I did. My polaris dealer thinks I'm nuts, but oh well. Thanks to all the folks who posted all the info on what I think is an excellent quad. No regrets so far....wish weekends were longer. Bob
