Default Prairie 700 Fire - Caution

Hi all,

Please check your wiring harness under your seat for any bare wires that may cause a fire. Specifically, the area where the harness is routed under the frame just before it reaches the area under the seat. I have a 2004 with about 100 hours on it. After a ride, I washed it off and parked it in my garage. As I was leaving the next day, I smelled smoke and found the source to be under the seat of the Prairie. As I lifted off the seat, I found that the wiring harness had caught fire. I couldn't believe it because the key wasn't even in it. Anyway, after inspecting the harness, it was clear that it had been rubbing the frame and, with the water from the wash the previous day, caught fire. If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know. The area where it was worn is hard to see, but with a flashlight, you should be able to see it fine. I don't have internet access at this time, but I will check this post in about a week. I am out of warranty by 3 months... so I'm pretty much screwed.
