It doesn't matter now. BRP put efi on the Outi 650 and put the hammer to everyone.

Bide your time, they will be producing the wheelers in Mexico in 07. And I think quality will take a dive. So just wait.

What makes you think the EFI is gonna help it any? Everyone knows that EFI does not mean more power necessarily. It means more economical. If you want to make good ole power you dump gas in a ( or multiple) Carb(s).

Better gas milage- YES

Better for higher elevations and changes- YES

Warm up quicker- YES

More expencive to buy and work on- YES

More Power- MAYBE

I will stay with my Carbs.

i just threw that out there, but you are right. It WILL be interesting to see what happens when they move the Plant to Mexico.

I bet you could hear a pin drop when they told the people at the Canadian plant. Companies like BRP work hard to build employee loyalty so when they cut that kind of cheese it stinks up the whole countryside.

Don't kid yourself, EFI is better on all levels. The only reason they all don't use it is because it's expensive.

i think you are correct on the f-i -- IF they have it figured out!!! if not could be a giant pain in the derriere -pardon the francias-- IT saddens me to think BRP is moving to mexico - as a kid true to SKI-DOO - raised in no. canada and alaska i have a soft spot for BRP.- HOWEVER dont think their atv's meet my personal specs - i want control of front & rear brakes seperate and want control of my 4x4 - as far as snow mobiles and the first ones i rode at 3 y.o. (66-10hrse)- and my dads SKI-DOO sponsored 72 oly 399 (was bad-a--) at the time i feel for the long time BRP employees - but hey that is big business - all the car mfg's have moved a large portion of component manuf. to mexico - has HELPED them alot huh??? - just more warranty issues-- I GUESS WE WILL SEE!!!!!!

EFI has just the advantage of economy, cold weather starts, and not flooding out at severe angles. worth it, but the carbs will put out every bit as much power. carbs have the advantage of being able to be tuned, while some EFI systems can't be adjusted at all. the general thought is if you don't plan on any mods, EFI is good. but if you are gonna add pipes, air box mods, cams or tweak your power at all, carbs are best. i realize EFI has it's plusses, but still prefer carbs for the time being. if VDI starts making programmable EFI, i'd probably try one. but for now, carbs can easily be tuned to out-perform just about any stock EFI.

one example KQ (EFI) vs. P700 (carbs). which is is fastest? both are great machines, but i'd put my money on the prarie in a race.

both systems have their advantages, but neither one is superior at everything. just pick a system to match your needs.

i expect the 650i to beat the Bomb 650 in a race, but i'm speculating here. i'm not making bets just yet.

My son has a new 650i with less than 50 miles on it, his first ride was a little more tippy than he liked so he installed one inch spacers on the rear end, it helped a lot. This a great engine lots of bang ,but controlable on the bottom end. Mid way thru our last ride the engine lost its compression braking so its at the dealer right now (engine speed sensor?)
