Recall done, lost all CV protection!
#1
I got my Prairie 400 4x4 back today from the recall and have a few observations. First the parts look more like a Honda, steel and simple. However they dont cover up the CV joint like the old alluminum hubs at all. Now my oxlite CV guards look pointless and come nowhere near protecting the joints. I can look straight in and see the entire CV boot on the outside. Big difference from the alluminum wrap-around knuckle.
Second, and maybe better, is that the machine feels like it turns sharper. Call me crazy but it cut a circle in my backyard that I normally have to do a 3 point turn using reverse.
Third, the wheel bearing clack that has plauged all these machines is gone! Hopefully it wont come back.
So I need to find a new style of CV guard or even make a small shield that I can weld to the steel spindles. Just some of what to expect for the guys still waiting. Oh BTW, my dealer said of the 8 kits and 8 phone calls he made, just me and one other brought their machine in, so there might be some room to get yours in if someone else is being lazy about it.

Ive got a good 30 miles on the recall parts now, I can add that my oxlite guards now rub on my ITP rims. I can verify that they are in the same spot on the A-Arms, so the only explanation is that it turns the wheels sharper. Guess its time to shave some metal off these guards.

Got my call today, they originally told me I would not get the work done until March. I bring my 650 in on Monday, I hope my alluminum gaurds protect the CV's and boots.

I got mine done a couple of weeks ago...
I had to re-drill my A arm protectors because the new A arms are different then the old ones...
It only took about 30 minutes to do though
The ride quality has increased greatly since the recall also...imo
