hey, new to the forum. Just test drove a used 2002 KVF 650 and was very impressed. Fast as hell, wicked handling , pretty much liked everything about it except I had an issue with the milage. Its at 4500 miles on the beast and I realize that isnt all that much but i was wondering if anyone could give me a ball park number of miles when a motor usually needs a rebuild or major work. I know it all depends on how it was ridden and maintenace and all that other great stuff. The guy who is selling is a younger guy so i will just assume he beats on it a little bit and he sais it has all regular maintenance work done. If anyone had a clue and could let me know that would be wicked. Thanks

do a search here instead of the self pity thing. there is a thread here somewhere about this topic where one guy got like 56,000 miles on his and a couple of farmers in ND had close to that with no rebuild yet. it depends on the maintenance and how the engine has been treated. i'll go look for that thread.
on the top of the page find "search". type in "many" and "miles" for key words. ckick "select all" and then "search". you'll have two pages of threads to read through.

You can find a P650 with a lot less miles than 4500. Might have to make a trip or two to check a couple out, but no more patience than you have, that shouldn't take long.
Maybe you aren't aware, but there is a recall on all Prairies for Kawasaki to replace the steering knuckles and a-arms. Kawi's lawyers sent out letters to all Prairie owners not to ride them w/o the replacements (at Kawi's expense). That was in June, and my quads are only just now being recalled at my dealer. Letter quick, recall kits slow. Make the guy show you where he had this work done?
Lean back, cool breeze.
