Default Wet belt procedures? Snorkle fix it?

Okay floated my Brute today and got water in the belt drive. Pulled plug and nasty black water came out. Seems to be working fine again. I am new to belts so is the anything special I need to do. Should I pull the cover and clean it out, and check it I am guessing. No water in the air box, I have hear of people having lots of problems with that but I was deep and not water in there. I am wondering how the water got it the belt area. I guess the factory snorkle is not sealed to well?? Will a higher snorkle fix that problem? thanks in advance for any suggestions.

if you got water in the belt drive, check your oil... if water gets into the filter box, it drains out into the crank case vent... if you oil is at all milky, change it ... maybe a few times...

No water in the oil. No water in the airbox. Just a wet belt.
