Does anyone know how to remove the speed restrictor while in reverse on the BF 650? If you give it to much gas it backfires and cut out. I do not like this when I am to scared to go down an inforgiving hill in Brown County Indiana! Especially one I have never been up. This thing weighs too much and is too expensive to be on top of me. Anyone know how to modifiy it so reverse can go faster?

not sure if the bf650 is that different, but the v-force has the switch on the left side of the motor. Two wires conected at diff. angles, one for rev. limit and one for something else, just unplug one then the other to find out which is which...i hope there the same as the v!

what we do on our praires and cats to get rid of the limiter is disconnect the wire from the reverse sender unit on top of the tranny on the left side(single push on wire). The sender unit is a ground when the bike is in reverse which puts your reverse light on and your limiter. We then hook up a back up lite and run the ground to the reverse sender unit that you just disconnected. You now have a lite that will come on whenever you put it in reverse.......you will no longer have a reverse indicator lite but that is no problem for us. good luck

here's what to do. remove the gauge pod cover. strip the plastic cover from an inch or two of the harness going to the left handlebar controll. there are two brown wires. find the one that is NOT butt spliced to three different colored wires. find the yellow wire with black stripe. now you have a choice.
if you just want to get rid of the reverse limp, cut the brown and yellow/black wires and splice the ends coming from the main harness, (not the handlebar) togather and tape.
BUT if you want to use the button for a horn (and remove the reverse limp mode), strip an inch of insulation from the brown wire, but do not cut it. cut the yellow/black wire and strip an inch of insulation form the end coming from the main harness. solder it to the brown wire, and tape it. then extend the yellow/black coming FROM the handlebar to a horn. the other horn terminal has to be grounded. (there is a handy ground wire behind the radiator. it is the BLACK/YELLOW just kinda hanging there with another brown wire).
hope this wasn't confusing.
