My mechanic says my power plant in my 2002 Kawasaki KVF400 4x4 is ruined. A clutch part broke off and worked its way through the upper and lower end. Therefore, I am trying to buy a new motor for the ATV at a reduced rate, otherwise, I will just be forced to sell it for parts.

Does anyone know what engines will fit in this ATV? Thanks.

 

KVF300 maybe, but it is air-cooled. Just another KVF400 might be the only choice. Split the crankcase and see what the real damages are. Maybe you can rebuild it.

If a KVF400 engine is the only choice does it have to be a 2002. If so, my search is really going to be tough.

Anyone own a salvage/wrecker yard.

My last choice, if all else fails is to sell it for parts. I would really not want to have to do that.

 

Huh. Maybe a kx450f. Lol umm really what about a kx500, or kx250. Both motors have been around for awhile and parts are still available. Plus both would be faster than the original (stock) motor, the 500 would be faster than a heavily modded kfx, well maybe not heavily heavily, modded.

 

Any engine you want, my buddy put a 600 Polaris Indy 3 cylinder in his 400 Sport Polaris Quad.

Can you get your buddy to contact me. I would really be interested in finding out if it was difficult (in otherwords costly) to modify the engine to fit. My mechanic says its the 2002 KVF400 or nothing, but I don't trust him, and before I take the atv to another mechanic I have been doing some research.

Kawasaki customer support has been TOTALLY useless. I have left voice messages and emails. Nothing seems to bring out an answer.
