Brute force 650i Toe-in or Toe-out
#1
I just bought a new Brute force 650i, went riding last weekend and I noticed a little bit of bump steer, then noticed that the Brute has a good bit of toe-out. Does anyone know if this is set up by the dealer or is it set up by kawasaki? My experience has been that toe-out increases bump steer. How do you guy's have yours set up? This is an awesome machine and I think I'll be much happier with it than I was with the 650 cat. Thanks for your Input.

Better to turn out than in.
Most manuals show toe out for specs on quad alinements. From zero about a 1/4 inch on each wheel.
But check with Kawasaki and have the dealer check it out for you.
good luck...........handycap

i think my brute 750 was set at zero in or out. since then though i put on diamond g rods and ends and now mine is toed in just a hair. i think thats what ktm265 runs. he's the one who makes the rods that diamond g sells.

On my 05 750 and my 06 650. They were both sent from the factory with some toe-out. Along with that. The handle bars were crooked on both from the factory. I set my 05 750 to 0 toe-out and the 06 650 to 1/8 toe-out on each wheel. I don't race. But the way I ride, I can't tell any diff. My issue was with the crooked handle bars from the factory.

the 650i service manual doesn't give toe specs. just that each tie rod is supposed to be 15.48 inches from center to center. i set mine at 1/8" toe in when i put tie rods in it, and i have no problem. it handles better than new.
try a little toe in and try that. i couldn't find a way to measure the tie rods that closely, but it is easy to set toe in.

Almost all Kawi's V-twin quad's front wheel toe-in spec is ZERO +/- 10 mm.
Set it to toe out (+ ), if you want easier/looer steering feeling for easy slow riding on soft terrain.
Set it to toe in (-), if you want stiffer/quicker steering feeling for fast trail riding on hard packed terrain.

My experience has been that toe-out increases bump steer.
"Slight" toe out will make a "slightly" more stable ride but will cause "slightly" more heavy steering. Toe in will cause the opposite.
