I was just curious what kind of engine oil others use in their Prairie motors. I was surprised when I looked at my owners manual and found 5 different choices. Everything from 5-30 to 20-40. I figured there would be a straight out recommendation from the factory. I realize different temperatures have something to do with it but thats a pretty big difference.

i run ams oil 10 w40 motorcycle and in my front diff also, works good so far.

 

I'm running mobile 1 in my KFX700 10w30 winter 20w50 summer

 

Listen to the toughguy, amsoil is good stuff. They have good filters also. Become a preferred customer for $10/ 6months and get good pricing on their products. They have great customer service also. www.amsoil.com

had 4000 miles when I sold her and didn't use any oil.

 

Mobil 1 MX4T 10w-40 high performance motorcycle oil in the engine, and Mobil 1 Vtwin 20w-50 in the front diff.

I use Amsoil 10w40 mc oil in my KTM. Belray 80wt gear saver in my 2 strokes and Valvoline 10w30 or 10w40 in all my other thumpers.

 

right now experementing with the quakerstate semisynthetc 10w40 4x4 oil in mine to see how it holds up, [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] as far as filters go, I've been experementing with them on 2 bikes and cutting them in half to see the filter quality, and I've tried the bosch3300(best) Wix(second) Kawi(third almost identical to wix)fram(junk) superguard(junk) supertech(junk) the bosch3300 from autozone nomatter how much I hate the places is by far the best filter out there. it filters more and you oil lasts longer with it than with the others I tried.

 

I am switching to Amsoil 0W40 here after a few more miles and will report my findings.

 

Mobil 1 MX4T 10w40 winter months.
Mobil 1 VTwin 20w50 Summer.
