Default front suspension comparison

I used to ride a lot of dirt bikes when was younger and remember how they would fly over small rocks and roots in the woods, you didnt even notice them. Now I am older and got a 2003 650 prarie and feel every root and rock enough to give me a headache if I hit them all at any kind of speed. I know a dirtbike has 12" of suspension(not when I was riding though)and weighs 3 times less.
Anyways how does the brute force 750 front suspension compare with the 03 struts of the old prairie? I know mine is really limited as to what I can do with it. I can put stiffer springs on, but thats not the problem. The back suspension seems fine .
I want a new atv and was thinkin bout that 800 outlander but I dont know a 750 brute force with the copperhead vdi? thing and holeshot radials and rims like I already got on my 650 my be the answer.

My BF750 is softer vs the '03 P650 I had before, even the guy who bought my P650 has noticed this too when he has ridden my BF. Since then I have upgraded my Stock Shocks to a set of the WORKS shocks and the ride is even better both front and rear. The only reason I upgraded my Shocks to the WORKS was to improve the handling of the BF750 when the speeds really picked up. The "WORKS" did exactly that Plus I got a even smoother ride too vs the Stock Shocks on the BF750.
For an IRS 4wheeler, the BF750 in the stock set-up is the roughest ride of any IRS made but still smoother over the Prairie SRA's, IMO.
With the wider Aftermarket ITP Wheels and the Badland Radials, the Works Shocks, my BF750 is a pleasure to ride, over any type of terrain and at any speed I wish to move along at. I'm not a kid either, so the softer riding IRS 4wheelers are the way to go.
The Holeshot Radial tires w/new Wheels will improve the handling and the VDI Copperhead CDI will give you the power but the stock Shocks are in a need for upgrading too for a smoother ride & even more added handling.
I've ridden the O800XT and yes in the Stock set-up it is very comfy and rides smoother over the Stock BF750. Slap on the VDI CDI, WORKS Shocks, better tires and the BF is there too.
The Basic WORKS will set you back $775 for all 4 shocks for the Steeler AT's, the WORKS G-series are a little bit more but come already with the preload adjusters.
I did these Upgrades to my BF750 long before the O800 even hit the press release and after riding my Present upgraded refit BF750, I'd be crazy to get the Bomb O800, that is how great my BF750 is now.
It also comes down to your riding style and the little things as well. I still prefer 2 brake levers vs one on the Bomb O800, mainly b/c of the type of riding I do, I've learned the dual-brake lever system works Best for me. Style counts with me too but others could care less.
If you go with the O800 or even the New O650 Bomb and you don't mind 1-lever brake systems then I think you will be happy with the results, IMO.

very good info, and explained very well too. I suppose if I was to buy a brute today I could put my itp holeshot tires and rims on it(will they fit?) But I dont know about paying 750 bucks for shocks, that is steep. Now I am thinking about buying the vdi for my 03 650 and waiting another model year and seeing if any new developments come out. Anybody here any romours for next year?

Your present ITP Wheels Will Not work on the Brute Force 650 or 750 IRS's.
The Front ITP wheels you are now using on your P650 will work on the O800 but the rear Wheels won't. You would need to buy 2 more Front wheels for the P650 for the rear wheels on the O800. The O800 uses 4 of the 4/137 wheel (Fronts only).
Kawasaki has already updated the front-end on the BF650i for '06, it is different over the BF750i. Plus, '07 should be the new EFI 4wheelers and a bump up in cc's for the current BF750 along with revised and updated and improved front suspension & revised IRS. The '07s are not far away.
