How can a prairie 650 beat a brute 750?
Thanks for all the good information guys. I think I will try some clutch work first and see how much that helps. I am going to order from EPI tommorrow morning. I am looking to get somewhere between a pink and bright green spring, any thouhgts? I am considering doing the high speed mod as well. Still wondering if anyone has v-cams out there. Thank you again.

Well I finally got my epi maroon primary in and did the top speed mod. I run side by side until 50mph, then he starts to pull away. I am only gaining about 1 mph on the top, even after the clutch work. I took right around .0.80 off the sheaves and the spider/faceplate, but after looking at the sheaves, it appears that the belt is only riding 1/4" higher than it had been, still nearly a 1/2 from the top of the sheaves. Should I take more off, or may my belt just be worn down that much. I do have at least 1500 miles on the belt. In addition, I have taken material off the entire face of each sheave in the past in order to remove some grooves. How much more can safely be removed from the faceplate? I have taken .040 out already. I hate losing over and over again. I can do the machine work myself, so cost is not an issue there. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Seems like a lost cause to me. Your machines are basically the same weight and same drive system but your buddy has a bigger engine. When you tweak yours enough to where you are close he just might start modifying his, then you will be right back where you started from!...
