Do NOT forget lots of good insect repellant. We rode just north of Newbery in the U.p. a couple years ago, and if you stopped for more than a minute, you got severly attacked! We went in the early part of june tho. Our motel owner said it's not quite as bad in July, so good luck!

 

Thanks for that tip about bug spray. I went out and got a can of Deep Woods Off with Deet. That should do it.

 

i always throw in a little extra motor oil in one of those Naglene lexan water bottles (i use the small mouth ones-easier to pour from). they don't leak and are really durable.

one of those small military shovels (the folding ones) is nice to have along. they are nice for trail maintenance and the like.
