Default Mojave leaking gas

I have an '01 mojave that is stock minus an FMF MegamaxxII. One day out of the blue it started leaking gas out of the carb overflow tube. I took it apart and cleaned it and noticed a ring on the needle. I bought a new Kawasaki needle and put it in and that helped for a week. Now it is back leaking again and we are all out ideas. I am also looking for performance mods not to extreme and to get the most out of it but still keep it reliable. Any thoughts and ideas are welcome and very needed.
Thanks!!!

mine does the same thing. i have never taken the carb apart or anything because i don't have any experience doing so. anyways does it still leak when the fuel is shut off? mine only does it when the switch is on regular, or reserve. i just shut it off so i don't lose fuel. i know that's not actually solving the problem, but like i said..i don't have the experience or the time/money to figure it out when it doesn't seem to hurt the quad besides leaking the fuel.

let me know either way

Take it apart and clean the carb thoroughly.

Your float level is screwed up...theres a float in the bottom of the carb that if the metal tab that keeps it set right bends somehow it will over flow acting like its getting to much gas in the bowl thus making it spew out the over flow. The only thing is i forgot what the adjustment should be at.... i seem to remember the float has to be level with the carb body, not sure though. Someone will respond with the adjustment hopefully.

Most likely You have something in there that is not letting your float needle seat. My 2000 did this when it was a month old and the dealer found a piece of plastic from inside the gas tank that must not have been cleaned properly after the moulding process got in the carb and was stuck under the float needle. He said it was the 3rd Mojave that he saw do this. It's pretty easy to pull the bowl off pull the float and float needle out and clean it out. Be patient in doing it and you should find the debri. Once you have the float needle out take a can of carb cleaner and spray it back up through the fuel hole where you pulled the needle out to flush out any thing that could be stuck in there. Also it makes sense to buy a $2.99 in-line fuel filter and put it on the gas line coming out of the tank to prevent future problems.
