Default Really need help on a few Prairie topics

Just purchased a 02 Kawasaki Prairie 650 today, my questions are it has about 1000 miles on it, DO i need to replace anything like belts I dont know if they have ever been done, also when just starting off it makes a pop noise it goes away once I am on the throttle. I have never ridden a fully automatic atv is there tranny fluid that needs to be changed, I also noticed that the temp flashed on and off a few times what might that be, havent checked anything yet, it was to dark when I got home and my last question is I went to kawasaki.com and noticed a recall on this model, where do I take it to have inspected and will they do anything 4 years later. I live in Denver CO anyone know of a good kawasaki dealer or repair shop that can give my atv a quick run thorugh without braking the wallet. Thanks Jeremy

Check all the fluids. Front and rear diff., oil, and radiator fluid. Make sure you radiator is washed out very well. Seeds, grass, and mud will accumulate there and make your motor run hot. As for the rest I sent you a private message, look on the right side of the screen to access it.

For your CVT belt, check the belt deflection and it should be some where near 24 to 28 mm. Try to set it to minimum deflection without the quad creeping when idling in gear. The noise you are describing could be the initial slip when taking off from standing still due to too much deflection. 1000 mile is not that much on a P650. I've seen a guy with 4000 miles with everything original including the CVT belt. But I've seen guy on his 3rd belt with less than 400 miles on it. So, it all depends how it's been used.

Buy a Kawi OEM service manual for P650 before spending on any other mods. That would be the best investment you would ever make on it.
