Will most sport quads out drag 650i and 750i?
#1
Sorry if this is a newbie question. I used to own a 350 Warrior, and it seemed very, very fast. This was quite a while ago, way before the big bores of today. I'm just curious if the the big bores such as the 650i, 750i, or even the Bomb 800 can keep up with todays sport quads like the Raptor 700, ect? I would guess the Raptor would blow the doors, or in this case fenders, off, but I've never ridden one. What's the story? I see people comparing all the big bores with each other, this one is fastest, no, this one, ect, but I don't see any sport quads included?
Given the two, I would never take my old warrior over my new 750, and I would guess the 750 was quicker, maybe even faster. My Warrior would do about 65mph. My new 750 hasn't been opened up yet, but I'm guessing at my altitude of 7700-10k, it will only go about 65 or so.

I don't see many Can-Ams around here, but if you are talking straight stock pretty much anything in a 450class or up should beat stock big bore stock utes. Now once you start modding things that can all goe out the window. There is a guy up here in NY that owns the organized atv drags on a Prairie. Then again, that quads whole existence is to be a drag bike, and is set up accordingly.

I agree, in a 300 ft drag. But the big bores now days have a top speed that matches, and even exceeds sports alot of times. But if i were to line up with a raptor, or other sport, i would see nothing but dust and dirt right away, but i would have a chance of catching up in a long run

Well, it just so happens I got thru doing some 100 yard drags. I consistantly out ran everything that was there with the exception of a banshee with a shaved head, lightened fly wheel, +6 swingarm, and pipes on race gas. I beat a 660 raptor with 11:1 piston, stage 1 hot cam, pipe on race gas. A Kfx 400 with 13.5:1 piston, stage 2 cam, pipe on race gas. And a r450 with baffle out, cherry bomb, no box lid. So to answer your question yes the big bore utes can be made to run. I run a stock motor with stage 1 cams, K&n, hmf full system, Dyno tuned for jetting, no kebc fork, and a 25 shot of boondocker NOS. Some guys like CC1999 are alot faster than me but they have a big bore with some serious motor work.

well i will tell you from experence the R-450 that fastfatboy out run was mine. he was taking me about 2 links. i took my brute force as well, ( with stock tires), and it was out running the other sport quads. by a link or two.
what ya'll are not realizing is the hole shot on that v-twin is so much that in a hundred yards sport quads can't catch up in time. fastfatboy runs like a 5.2 - 5.3 on some good sand with some moisture in it. i run a 5.6 pretty consistantly on my LTR-450. My brute runs a 5.5 in a hundred yards.......
