Default 2005 Kawi Prairie 700 Problems

Well this is about my parents quad and it has about 50 hrs max on it. Well of course its not under warranty anymore and when we went riding this weekend they start to have problems. Hopefully someone here can help. To start with the screen that shows the time/speed etc etc wont stay on it blinks on and off anyone know what could cause this? They put a new battery in and the problem is the same it also wont start with electric start have to pull start it. When its cold you have to pull start it about every 5 min until it warms up? Once its warmed up it drives fine. Another problem they had was once they got back to the trailer the (driver side if it was a car) where the exhaust pipe runs had burnt the plastic!! they were always complaining about it getting hot but now i see why that have a pretty big hole in thier brand new quad now from the exhuast burning the plastics!! Are all these problems related? Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is their second kawi in the past 2 years thier first prairie didnt give them any problems.
thanks!!!

If you drove it with the main fuse gone I don't think the fan would work. My fuse went once and they was no just cause. Blink 2-4 is no problem all you need to do is reset the belt and it could clear it up. Also try disconnecting the battery for about a half hour just to reset everything. The red light is oil not coolant, make sure there is oil in the machine and also the light will blink if it's ready to stall or the machine is not running. When a battery is weak it can cause some funny things so check the charge on the battery because that controls your 2-4 acurator. I also knew someone that put the wrong oil in it and it would blink.
