Default Slight noice while shifting into gear....

Whenever I am sitting at idle, and shift into hi, low, or reverse on my 650i I hear a slight grinding noice. I was thinking maybe the idle was a little high? Or is this a normal sound on these bikes? It has been like that since day one.

The one thing that will help your problem is to shift it into gear "firm". I have had to get on my kids for babying it into gear. It is very normal for you to here the famous "clunk" when shifting gears on these kawi's. Kawi uses square cut gears, therefor the clunk when putting into gear.

If your idle rpm is too high (like when choke is on or carb screw is set too high), then there would be a clunking noise when you shift from Neutral to a gear.
